Cuba's golf courses provide the perfect way to enjoy the Caribbean sunshine for those with a love of the sport. The courses are on level ground, covered with well kept grass and lakes and are cleverly located between breathtaking hills and of course, golf in the Caribbean's beautiful climate makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Both courses are spacious, offering plenty of room for keen golfers to improve their swing and putting!
Although Cuba's golf courses are currently limited to two, they do make for a splendid day out for amateurs and veterans alike. Proving popular with both professional and amateur golfers, the centres regularly organise competitions and events for experienced golfers. For those who wish to make Cuba's golf clubs the focus of the holiday, specialised hotels are available. Amateurs needn't worry though, as we can provide trainers to give guidance to beginners, ensuring they'll be improving their handicap in no time!
Varadero Golf Club
This is the first and (currently) only 18-hole Cuban golf course, and was opened in April 1998, offering luxurious surroundings and an entertaining round of golf, both for beginners and experts. The first 9 holes are considerably easier than the back 9, so beginners should probably stick to a shorter round, while experts should beware that boasting about the easiness of the course could come back to bite them when they reach the halfway point! Some of the holes are located right in front of the sea, increasing the challenge, but also presenting views typical of Caribbean golf which simply take your breath away to calm your frustrations! The par 72 course also boasts a driving range, 2 putting greens and a chipping green with bunkers to get practice in - for the serious player, this is Cuba's golf excursion of choice.
Havana Golf Club
Havana's golf club is sadly only a 9 hole course, though it does have 18 tees, meaning you can still play a full game. Although you could consider this more of a casual setting because of its length, the par 35 course includes some sneaky bunkers around the greens which should surprise the more experienced players. For those less concerned with golf in Cuba, the club also boasts five tennis courts, a bowling green and a fine restaurant ensuring that everyone in your party will find something to entertain them.
Although Cuba's golf may not be world renowned, the island's exquisite beauty makes the perfect setting for a relaxing and memorable golf holiday. Golf in the Caribbean is one of the best ways to enjoy the climate.
